Celina Wins!

1991 Ohio High School Regional Championship basketball game. Last second shot by Jill Froning for unranked Celina wins the game over Ohio's #1 rated Pickerington (were also rated in USA Today Top 5)...Celina went on to win the Ohio D1 State Championsip game. Game was played at Bellefontaine HS, Dave Schmidt doing the play-by-by for Celina Cable TV.

(July 25, 2010) - Celina beat Bellefontaine 6-5 and will advance in State ACME competition to play on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Montgomery Field in Celina, at 6:00 p.m.

Celina Wins ACME District Title

(7-20-10) - Celina beat Coldwater 8-4 in ACME District Final. Celina defeated Coldwater 8-4. Kahle Knapke hit a double driving in 3 runs to put Celina ahead 7-4. Celina moves on to the ACME State Tournament which will begin at Montgomery Field in Celina on July 24.

2010 Celina High Girls Basketball Camp

The Celina Girls Basketball program recently held their annual basketball camp with approximately 45 girls participating. The girls learned and practiced basic fundamentals of basketball as well as played many different types of games. The young ladies worked very hard and were enjoyable to have at camp. Each camper received a t-shirt, water bottle, and other prizes. Thanks to all the participants and workers from the Celina Girls Basketball program.

2010 DALE HARTER MEMORIAL BASEBALL TOURNAMENT WILL BE HELD JULY 30,31 & AUGUST 1 AT EASTVIEW PARK IN CELINA. THERE WILL BE 19 TEAMS COMING IN TO PLAY IN THIE EVENT. LITTLE LEAGUE WINNERS RECEIVE BIKES FOR 1ST PLACE!!!!!!!! VERY FUN AND WELL RUN TOURNAMENT WITH CONCESSIONS STANDS WHICH HELP BENEFIT THE TOURNAMENT. THE DALE HARTER FAMILY DUE TO THIS TOURNAMENT AND OTHER FUND RAISERS GAVE 2- $1,000 SCHLORSHIPS AWAY TO THE FOLLOWING SENIOR BASEBALL PLAYERS GOING AWAY TO COLLEGE NEXT YEAR. Coldwater to Hire Chip Otten As varsity Football Coach

Coldwater will be naming their new Varsity Football Coach at the school board meeting on Tuesday, April 27th. Long time football coach John Reed resigned two weeks ago for family and health reasons which created the opening.

Chip Otten will be named as the new head coach at Coldwater High School. Coach Otten has been a Varsity Assistant at Coldwater for the past 8 years. Coldwater's record during Coach Otten's tenure has been 100-9, with 4 state appearances, and 2 State Titles (2005, 2007). Coldwater has won the MAC title 5 times during Coach Otten's 8 years at Coldwater and has also had 5 undefeated regular seasons during this timeframe.

Prior to coming to Coldwater, Coach Otten was the Head Coach at Division I Middletown High School from 1995-2000. Other coaching assignments during his career has been as Assistant Coach at Middletown from 1987-1994 and at Valley View High School (2001). He has also served as a Graduate Assistant at Bowling Green State University, Ball State University, and Indiana University. Coach Otten's overall coaching record at the High School level as an Assistant and Head Coach is 191-75.

Chip Otten's father Barney Otten served as the Head Coach at Coldwater High School from 1974-1976 in which he compiled an overall record of 26-4 including 2 league championships. His 1976 team finished with a perfect 10-0 record.

Chip Otten is a graduate of Coldwater High School and played College Football at Bowling Green State University as a scholarship quarterback. He currently teaches Physical Education and Health in the Coldwater School system. Coach Otten and his wife Diane reside in Coldwater with their children Samantha, Brady, Troy, and Drew.

The 2009 – 2010 Celina High Girls Freshmen Basketball team completed a perfect season with an overall record of 9 wins and 0 losses. The team also won the first annual St. Marys Girls Freshmen Tournament by defeating Wayne Trace, Versailles, and in the championship game Minster by a score of 28 to 22.


Bulldogs Beat Clearview In OT

The Celina Bulldogs win in OT over Lorain Clearview 54-45 in a D2 Regional Semi-Final at Bowling Green State University. The Bulldogs will play for a Regional title and a chance to play in the State Championships next week in Columbus for the first time since 1972. Game time is 3pm, live audio of the game will be on the web at www.wcsmradio.com.

"Celina Girls Basketball Association"

3rd and 4th Grade Girls

There were two groups (3rd & 4th grade and 5th & 6th grade) of young ladies that participated in the "Celina Girls Basketball Association" (CGBA), a Celina City Schools elementary basketball program.

The girls worked on basketball fundamentals as well as learned how to play different basketball games. They worked hard and had lots of fun learning about basketball. Thanks go out to volunteer coaches: Dale Moorman & Dale Stahl - 6th Grade Larry Boley - 5th grade
